Barry Carbon was the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment and Secretary for the Environment from 2002 for four years. The Ministry had overseeing of resources legislative change, approval processes, government environmental policy including pollution control, climate change, waste plocy, sustainable development, fresh water and oceans. in that four years he successfully changed the Ministry into an organisation that both protected the environment and promoted sustainable development.
